Peralta Community College District
Peralta Community College District
Founded in 1964, the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) is comprised of Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College and Merritt College in Oakland, California. The four colleges provide a multicultural learning environment with high-quality educational programs and services for more than 30,000 students.
Accuracy problems
Before Peralta Community College District implemented InfraMappa, Construction Manager, Erin Griffin would search through draft rooms for the plans she needed to give contractors. “It would take me hours to look up the information. Sometimes I would walk away empty handed with only piecemeal things that I could provide,” explained Griffin. When she found plans, they weren’t always right. “The underground utility mapping was really not accurate at all, and the contractors ran into a lot of issues,” Griffin continued.
The solution
“The accuracy and availability of information is extremely important … to the schedule and the cost of the project. It’s [InfraMappa’s] made a world of difference in just our efficiency in designing and relying on the information that we have.” InfraMappa smart mapping software not only eliminates the guesswork before and during the construction process, but makes collaborating easy. “The fact that our team and the campus and district team can access the same tools, see the same information—it makes it easier for us to look at what the issues are and have discussions on how to rectify them.”
“I would highly recommend something like this as a tool to keep you efficient, to keep you accurate, to keep your costs down and just help you look at the bigger picture and move things as quickly as you can.” – Erin Griffin, Construction Manager working with Peralta Community College District
